Becoming a Start Instructor

General description

An RYA Start Windsurfing Instructor is a competent windsurfer trained to teach and assess the Start Windsurfing award of the RYA National Windsurfing Scheme.

Candidates may teach on either inland or coastal waters. This is depending on where their sailing assessment took place and is at the discretion of the course Trainer.

Becoming an Intermediate Instructor

General description

An RYA Intermediate Windsurfing Instructor is a competent windsurfer trained to teach and assess the Start Windsurfing and Intermediate award of the RYA National Windsurfing Scheme.

Candidates may teach on either inland or coastal waters. This is depending on where their powerboat assessment took place and is at the discretion of the course Trainer.

The Intermediate course and instructor training is assessed in two competencies - non planning and planning, and is the first instructor course to incorporate the new Fastfwd coaching method.

Becoming an Advanced Instructor

General description

The core content of the course enables instructors to teach the main Advanced course in the scheme, including waterstarting and the planning carve gybe. To become an RYA Advanced Plus Instructor, instructors will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate and teach additional Advanced Clinics in carving skills and bump and jump.
Candidates may teach on either inland or coastal waters. This is depending on where their sailing assessment took place and is at the discretion of the course Trainer
